Emma De Swaef

Belgian animation director Emma De Swaef (1985) studied documentary at Sint-Lukas in Brussels. In her graduation film Zachte Planten, she used her sewing skills for the first time in a stop-motion film. In 2011, Marc James Roels and Emma De Swaef made the animated film Oh Willy..., which won awards at more than a hundred festivals. In 2018, the duo followed this worldwide hit with the medium-length stop-motion film Ce magnifique gâteau!, which premiered in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes Film Festival.

A gentle, middle-aged man returns to the nudist colony he grew up in to visit his elderly mother. Her sudden death leaves Willy in a state of sadness. He soon finds himself lost in the midst of a savage wilderness, trying to find comfort.
