Affairs of the Art

With more than one hundred international awards — including two Emmys, four BAFTAs, and jury prizes at the world's major animation festivals — Joanna Quinn is one of the most awarded British animation filmmakers ever. Quinn's films often focus on gender and discrimination, but always with wit.

The Oscar-nominated Affairs of the Art follows Beryl, a working-class anti-hero, and her eccentric family. The comic character first appeared back in 1987 in Quinn's short animated film Girls Night Out, which won three major awards at the Annecy animation festival at the time.

More short films by Joanna Quinn will be screened that same evening, in her presence. The programme will be followed by a conversation with the filmmaker.
