Daydreaming So Vividly About Our Spanish Holidays
Balconing is the phenomenon where foreign tourists jump from one hotel balcony to another during their holidays to eventually make a final splash in the pool below. Spanish tourist cities, in particular, suffer from it.
With his first short film Daydreaming So Vividly About Our Spanish Holidays, Christian Avilés immediately secured a European Film Awards nomination. The colourful 16mm makes Mallorca look like a children’s playground, but the bright colour palette also looks like an alienating veneer. Behind all this summery splendour, something dark and uncanny is lurking.
During Zomerfilms, Short Film Festival Leuven presents a compilation of summer short films, including Shooting Watermelons by Antonio Donato and The Miracle by Nienke Deutz.
