De/constructing Intimacies
Film Fest Gent Talkie
On October 13th, Film Fest Gent and Kortfilm.be invite Naomi Pacifique, Saleh Kashefi, and Camille Vigny to a conversation on intimacy. During this Film Fest Gent Talkie, the filmmakers will elaborate on their filmmaking practices and short films that are part of the festival’s International Short Film Competition.
Each of their works engages with the idea of (de)constructing intimacy in different ways. With looking she said i forget, Swiss-Dutch filmmaker Naomi Pacifique explores the intimacy of a non-monogamous relationship outside its sexual context. While in Crushed, narrator-filmmaker Camille Vigny recalls the violent summer of her 18th birthday and first love. In Saleh Kashefi’s And How Miserable is the Home of Evil, we witness the final moments before the fictitious downfall of Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader.
Free entrance! The talk will be held in English at the Film Fest Gent Café from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Moderated by Bo Alfaro Decreton.
